"I have an un ID cactus, I think is an Escobaria, but I´m not sure. It is from the Matorral Espinoso Tamaulipeco (Tamaulipan thorn shrub). Here is a photo."Jan Mynář (September 3, 2007) - e-mail: escobaria@atlas.cz
I have seen the sent photographs but the precise determination of the genus and eventually of the species is very difficult. The plant is very young. To place the plant into the Escobaria species contradicts the absence of the groove on the upper side of the tubercula. However, the groove is sometimes - in case of young plants/subjects - missing and appears only in maturity. For the correct engaging of the plant it would be of an immense help if you could clarify for example the locality, flower, fruit or seeds. Without these information it would be just a pure speculation.Peter Mokrý (September 3, 2007) - e-mail: pmokry@chello.sk
Only as a speculation :-)) - very well "drunk" Coryphantha macromeris ? Actually, one may see nothing on these photos.Jan Říha (September 4, 2007) - e-mail: riha.j@sendme.cz
It is very difficult to assume, the plants are very small and without flowers, only time will reveal more.Manuel Nevarez (September 4, 2007) - e-mail: digitostigma@gmail.com
"I have only this plant and it still small, so, no flowers, fruits or seeds had beem obtained yet. I am propagating this plant by grafting and I hope to observe flowers next year. I will try to find aditional specimens too."Jaroslav Šnicer (September 5, 2007) - e-mail: cult.tricka@seznam.cz
Until we will see more it does not make any sense to speculate. It can be be both some zilziana as well as Echinocereus. Photos from the nature and view of the crown can help more. It is not necessatry to indicate the locality, if you are afraid of a disclosure. Only the pictures of associated plants and approximate outline of area are enough.
